Bird Watching & Wildlife
Bird
watching is a universal activity. Farmer Bill's Country Market
is situated in a valley surrounded
by mountains, trees, a creek or two that
flows through its fields and McCoy Lake at its back door. Many birds
and water fowl are found
here ranging from, eagles, hawks, owls, egrets, osprey, swans, loons,
blue herons, Canada Geese, sand hill cranes, ducks galore, chimney
swifts, humming birds, swallows, gross beaks and cross beaks are
some of many that have made their home here or visited the farm.
Black-tail deer, black bear, beaver, weasels, and raccoons are regular
wildlife sights on the farm and on rare occasions a cougar and a
wolf have been spotted crossing the fields. The farm's natural setting
attracts these critters to feed on the grassy fields, nest on the
lake or in the trees, raise their young, and feed on prey. These
are spectacular sights to see on the farm!
Stroll the Trails
The
guided Trail Walk will give you the chance to
venture on the farm through a section of the 50 acre treed lot situated
on the farm. You will be
able to see and hear the many sights and sounds that the forest has to
offer. Walk along a stream bed that is filled with fry and is sheltered
by large fir trees and shrubs. You'll experience the wonders of nature,
and when you look up you may see a hawk, or eagle soaring through the
sky. You'll see signs of logging from years gone by when only an ax,
bow saws and spring boards were used. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear
for this entertaining trail walk.
